(Post 7) To lip-sync or not to lip-sync? That, is the question.

How effective is the use of lip-syncing? In this student made music video the use of lip syncing is not very professional or well done. there is a clear timing issue between the lyrics and the lip-syncing. It makes the video less effective and appear more amateur. Its very important in a music video to ensure that the video is well edited and therefore the miming syncs with the song and lyrics. What difficulties can you imagine there are with lip-syncing? In order to create a well edited and effective video its important to make sure the lips are well synced with the video. However this is more challenging than it appears, when lip-syncing to a song its important that the mime artist sings to the same time as the song. This is much more challenging than others may perceive because often when miming the song people become out of time with the actual lyrics or say a word too slowly which makes the video less effective. Its also very hard for the mime-artist to pronounce the wor...

Potential settings Happisburgh Lighthouse   Little Plumstead Hospital Norfolk Shotesham Ford Sisland Wood Potential cast & characters Performer:  For the role of the performer we chose Eve's dad Michael. This works in many ways; he has had pervious experiences on screen and also suits the physical appearance of the actual singer of the song, Patrick Watson. Him being an actor is very convenient because we know him personally which makes it easier for him to be in front of the camera and for us to share our ideas and bring them to life. He is also a possible transport option who could drive us to the different locations. The three siblings:  The main characters of the music video are going to be three children who are playing with different toys and enjoy their time together at various locations. These children are going to be played by three siblings ages 3, 6 and 8 who are Eve's family friends. They will be playing the...

Creativity  This student made music video uses lots of time lapse at the start. This idea is used quiet frequently used in student made videos, so it is not that creative however it does make the video look like its very professional. The use of contrast of the urban and rural locations is very creative.         Setting/Location  The setting of the video is set in a number of locations. One of which appears to be a field its filled with trees and green grass and has a very natural effect. It gives a very peaceful atmosphere and the drinking of beer in this scene contrasts with the calm environment in this scene. Another location used is an alley way where a fight scene takes places. The alley way is dark and narrow which creates a tense atmosphere which is reflected in the fight. There is a mixture of rural and urban locations used which gives it a nice contrast. There is a scene of the sky where it is grey and cloudy and r...

Creativity The music video for Marshmello - keep it Mello features a very unique story line which shows a lot of creativity and imagination. The video is very Unique and is the only video in this style that I've ever seen. The choice of a Marshmallow is very individual and witty because it links to both the artist and the name of the song. The choice to manipulate the appearance and use a Marshmello is unique to this artist. Setting/Location  The music video appears to have been shot in america as the scenery looks more american that british. The use of this location puts emphasis on the  traditional american style house party. This fits with the theme of the video because this what the  Costume and props  In the music video the main character is dressed up all in as a marshmallow and has a bowl of marshmallows for breakfast which fits with the title of the song- Marshmallow. The performer who lip-syncs is dressed in more casual clothes a...

Me, Paula and Jess were randomly given a fairy tale or nursery rhyme, and a question. We can use these as stimuli to create a music video. The fairy tale/nursery rhyme we were given was 'This little Piglet' and the question we were given was 'How long is a piece of string'. Initial first idea Our initial idea was to work with the nursery rhyme rather than the question we were given and we thought of a scene, where a mother is holding a baby's foot and does the nursery rhyme with its toes. We then thought about songs that we would like to use and came up with ' Lighthouse ' by  Patrick   Watson  and ' To build a home ' by  The Cinematic Orchestra.  We struggled to develop a story from the nursery rhyme and instead thought of potential cast and costumes we would like to use. We also researched some locations in our area which would look cinematic. This all led to us deciding that we won't be concentrating too much on the story but rather...
