(Post 46) Final song choice

Other music videos:
Is there a common theme to his videos?
The first music video I embedded of the song 'Broken' shows lights a car passes driving at night. Occasionally, faces of other people including the artist appear as an overlay over the shots of the lights. Not a lot is happening in the video and even though it seems like it is not following a certain storyline, the video suits the lyrics of the song. Lines such as 'Tell me where we're going tonight, tell me where we're going so fast' suit the car driving past the neon lights at night.
The second video of the song 'Places you will go' is a one-take lip-syncing performance using different effects to make the heads of the performers bigger. This and the video for the song 'Into giants' are the only lip-syncing songs I could find. This video follows a storyline and is probably the most entertaining video out of all of the above. However, it still confirms to the alternative genre because of the costume, the dancing and the director style. Similarly, the music video for the song 'Love songs for Robots' is a very original idea and a more alternative approach to a music video.
The music video for the song 'Drifters' uses old black and white video footage which starts and ends with a man playing the piano and shows the life of fishermen in the middle. I particularly find this video very useful for our own music video as it doesn't involve any lip-syncing but still has the performing act of the artist playing the piano. This again is a very alternative music video and not something you would expect when you first hear the song.
The last two songs involve some form of drawings and stop-motion. This technique is another evidence for the alternative genre of his songs represented in his music videos.
After watching all of his music videos I would conclude that besides the fact that they represent his songs and the genre his is trying to approach, his videos are very creative and also don't use a lot of lip-syncing. Appart from two of his music videos, all his videos follow a certain storyline instead of showing the artists singing which reinforces our choice to not use any lip-syncing but rather focus on the storyline and keep the video less like a stereotypical music video.
